Certified Straubinger Pad Technician

Certified Straubinger Pad Technician
I'm just back from Indianapolis, where I successfully completed training to become a certified Straubinger Pad Technician. Straubinger™ Pads are designed specifically for hand-made flutes and consist of different materials and components than a traditional pad. The actual installation of the Straubinger™Pad requires careful preparation of the flute. The instrument must be in the very finest mechanical condition in order for the pads to be installed properly. The tone holes must be shaped correctly and the cups perfectly aligned over the tone holes. The spuds must be at a precise height, and the screw washers and bushings (grommets) a particular shape. Special tools are required to perform this work.  The training is an intensive three-day course, designed specifically to cover the concepts, methods of application, and procedures required to install Straubinger Pads correctly. To learn about Straubinger™ flutes or pads call me or visit http://www.straubingerflutes.com.

Buffet R13 “Golden Era” Bb Clarinet

Buffet R13 “Golden Era” Bb Clarinet
PROMISE TO A CLIENT!!   Here we have a Buffet R13 Bb clarinet from 1974. This is near the end of what is considered to be the 'golden era' of Buffet clarinets. The 'golden era' from the mid '60's until the mid to late 70's is so named because it is the period when Buffet was naturally aging the grenadilla wood for 20 years to ensure only the finest wood was used. This one has serial number 151057. The nickel silver key work is in excellent condition and shows no signs of wear. There was one small crack at the top of the lower joint that has been repaired but otherwise the grenadilla wood is in excellent condition. The pads appear to be roo skin (leather) and still have a lot of life in them. The clarinet plays beautifully with a gorgeous sound. It comes with a non-original case and there is no mouthpiece but I can include one with the sale. Let me know if you want to try this one out!
