The Buffet clarinet sold today that everyone loves was first made in the 1950's. Buffet clarinets sold before that time are still professional clarinets but are now commonly called "pre-R13" clarinets. This one is from 1938 (SN 25561). The wood had one small previously repaired old crack at the top of the lower joint that has been cleaned up. Other than that the rest of the wood is perfect, even the tone holes on it had no chips. It has been completely disassemble with all pads replaced and the screws and rods all checked. One rod on the 4th trill key needed to be replaced, but all the others were in great shape. This clarinet has a wonderful tone and plays like a dream. It come with a Buffet C mouthpiece and the what appears to be the original case, which is rough but is still in usable condition. It would be perfect for a budding musician or a professional looking to fill out a collection.
